Infographics for Global Awareness Days

22nd March, 28th May, 15th October and 19th November mark the global awareness days on topics of Water, Menstrual Hygiene, Handwashing and Toilets respectively. These are important days for WaterAid India for building awareness and empowering the audience with knowledge with a hope that it helps remove ignorance and create participation.

In the past two years as part of that process, we have worked on quite a few graphical and share-worthy images to convey vital information either in the form of numbers or just shocking facts. Following the brand colour of WaterAid, we employed clean vectors and concise text to talk about the issues related to water, sanitation and hygiene all over the world (but mostly with stress on India).

WaterAid India is part of the global WaterAid network which has been working for four decades to improve access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene across the world. We have been working with WaterAid India since 2015 on a large variety of communications such as publications and reports, diaries and calendars for 2016 and 2017, graphics for social media, animated videos, events and much more.

World Handwashing Day (2015)

A multitude of hands holding soaps are seen to be assembling to talk about Handwashing.  At the center, these hands create a rather large bloom of lather, which is the space we use to talk about the benefits of handwashing, such a simple act that can really save lives.

World Toilet Day (2015)

Based on the WaterAid report on the state of toilets all over the world ‘Its no joke’, a series of three infographics were created to bring to light the colossal sanitation crisis ongoing in India.

Menstrual Hygiene Day (2015)

In 2015, a series of 7 images were created to start the conversation on taboos surrounding menstruation. The images work in a progression in which we first see a young girl behind a window, one that is essentially a prison. We show her trapped behind the bars, the bars created out of the many myths surrounding menstruation. As the series progresses, we highlight each myth and go on to discredit them. In the last poster of the series, we see the same girl in a happy state of mind, sitting on the same window that was previously imprisoning her.

World Toilet Day (2016)

Similar to the 2015 report on the state of toilets WaterAid published another update with new data in 2016. We created another set of graphics derived from facts in the report.

World Water Day (2017)

For World Water Day 2017, WaterAid published a report ‘Wild Water’ which highlights how access to water, sanitation and hygiene will be critical to adapt to climate change. A few important facts picked from the report were illustrated as a tool to inform.
